10 Books to Read This Autumn | My Autumn TBR

(Last Updated On: )

Oh look, the girl who can’t stick to TBRs has made an autumn TBR? I am a clown and I know it, okay? But man, making TBR lists is just so much fun! Even if I almost never actually read what I plan to, that’s the mood reader curse. If you’re looking for some cosy or spooky reads for this season, here are some books I want to read this autumn.

The Dead and the Dark – Courtney Gould

Horror is probably my least read genre. But make it sapphic and suddenly I’m interested. After all, I am but a simple gay. The Dead and the Dark is set in the small town of Snakebite, Oregon. Teenagers are missing and weird stuff keeps happening. Logan, the daughter of two TV ghost hunters and Ashley who’s boyfriend went missing team up to figure out what is happening. I’m so excited to read this book! Honestly, I’m hoping that it can be my introduction into more horror-vibe stories because I feel like I’m missing out.

Ninth House – Leigh Bardugo

If not now, during autumn, when am I ever going to read Ninth House? It’s time. Fun fact, this was the first book I ever preordered! Even though at that point I hadn’t read anything by Leigh Bardugo, I was intrigued by the premise. So it’s finally time for me to see if this book delivers all the dark academia vibes I hope it will.

These Witches Don’t Burn – Isabel Sterling

Wouldn’t be an autumn TBR without some witches, would it? These Witches Don’t Burn has sat on my shelf for far too long and I can’t wait to read it while eating a bunch of chocolate. I really enjoyed The Ravens when I read it earlier this year so I hope that this is going to give me similar witchy vibes!

Ace of Spades – Faridah Àbíké-Íyímídé

This technically cheating a little because I already read a little bit of Ace of Spades! But then a giant reading slump and depressive episode hit and I put it aside again. I already know I’ll love it so I want to give it my full attention. I’ve read so many good reviews and can’t wait to join the club of people singing this book’s praises.

The Atlas Six – Olivie Blake

Ah yes, the dark academia book that like 5 people on Twitter tell me to read. I am going to, I promise! I have plans to buddy read this with a friend (who insisted that we can’t read dark academia in summer) so fingers crossed we can read it soon, now that it’s autumn! I’ve already flipped through the book and immediately fell in love with the character art, so I’m feeling this might be a 5-star read!

The Silence of Bones – June Hur

This is a historical murder mystery set in 1800, Korea. The main character Seol is indentured to the police bureau and has to assist a young inspector with a murder investigation. Things quickly get complicated as he becomes the main suspect and Seol might be the only one who can find out what truly happened. I rarely read historical fiction but I read some great reviews of this book so I immediately got the audiobook! I’m trying to figure out what I like in terms of YA mysteries so I’m super excited to branch out into historical fiction!

The Devil Makes Three – Tori Bovalino

A story set in a library but make it horror? Sign me up! I adore stories that include all things bookish, especially when they’re combined with some type of magic. As I continue my journey into horror, I’m sure this is going to be a great companion.

What We Devour – Linsey Miller

I’ve talked about this book before because it’s one of my most anticipated 2021 releases! It has death vibes and an asexual protagonist. Basically, everything I want in a book! So naturally, I’m very excited to see if this lives up to my expectations.

The Bone Witch – Rin Chupeco

Another book that has been on my TBR forever, please don’t come for me. Once again, magic, death, bones and necromancy…my name is written all over it. This is also a book that so many of my favourite bloggers absolutely adore so naturally, I assume I’m going to love it as well! To be honest, I’m a little ashamed I still haven’t read this so it’s time to change it.

Welcome to Nightvale – Joseph Fink and Jeffrey Cranor

And finally, my most recent book purchase! I started listening to Welcome to Nightvale fairly recently and am obsessed with it. So naturally, I had to get one of the novels. I have no idea what to expect, but that’s part of the fun I think.

And that concludes my list of 10 books to read this autumn! Have you read any of these already? What’s on your autumn TBR?

I hope you have a lovely day,
