WWW Wednesday #4 – April 14, 2021

(Last Updated On: )

Welcome back to WWW Wednesday! Today, I have a fresh release, a book I bought on recommendation and an ARC. If you’re interested in what I’m reading at any given moment, you can follow me on Goodreads and TheStorygraph and keep up to date! Now let’s get into it.

WWW Wednesday is hosted by Sam @ Taking on a World of Words! All you have to do is answers the following three questions:

1) What are you currently reading?
2) What did you recently finish reading?
3) What do you think you’ll read next?

Have you ever imagined running away from your life?

Well, Birdy Finch didn’t just imagine it. She did it. Which might’ve been an error. And the life she’s run into? Her best friend, Heather’s.

The only problem is, she hasn’t told Heather. Actually, there are a few other problems…

Can Birdy carry off a summer at a luxury Scottish hotel pretending to be her best friend (who incidentally is a world-class wine expert)? And can she stop herself from falling for the first man she’s ever actually liked (but who thinks she’s someone else)?

I only just started my ARC for this so I don’t have much to say yet. I’ve seen a lot of other people really enjoy it so I’m crossing my fingers that I’ll like it too!

Tina never worries about being ‘ordinary’—she doesn’t have to, since she’s known practically forever that she’s not just Tina Mains, average teenager and beloved daughter. She’s also the keeper of an interplanetary rescue beacon, and one day soon, it’s going to activate, and then her dreams of saving all the worlds and adventuring among the stars will finally be possible. Tina’s legacy, after all, is intergalactic—she is the hidden clone of a famed alien hero, left on Earth disguised as a human to give the universe another chance to defeat a terrible evil.

But when the beacon activates, it turns out that Tina’s destiny isn’t quite what she expected. Things are far more dangerous than she ever assumed. Luckily, Tina is surrounded by a crew she can trust, and her best friend Rachel, and she is still determined to save all the worlds. But first she’ll have to save herself.

Victories Greater Than Death was such a wild ride. It’s vibrant and funny and I loved the found-family space crew so much! It’s definitely a book you have to be open to, there’s a lot happening and not everything is explained, you just have to go with the flow.

JÓNAS FEELS LIKE HIS LIFE IS OVER.

His wife has left him, his mother is slipping deeper into dementia, and his daughter is no longer who he thought. So he comes up with a foolproof plan: to buy a one-way ticket to a chaotic, war-ravaged country and put an end to it all.

But on arriving at Hotel Silence, he finds his plans – and his anonymity – begin to dissolve under the foreign sun. Now there are other things that need his attention, like the crumbling hotel itself, the staff who run it, and his unusual fellow guests. And soon it becomes clear that Jónas must decide whether he really wants to leave it all behind; or give life a second chance, albeit down a must unexpected path…

I got this book for Christmas last year because Leena Norms mentioned it in one of her videos. It sounds exactly like the kind of book I’d enjoy and: it’s short! I love a short book, they’re so inviting and don’t intimidate me as much as some other books on my shelf. It’s also on my 21 Books I Want to Read in 2021 list (which I really need to start crossing off) so let’s hope I actually read it next. But we all know that my mood reader tendencies might get the better of me…

What’s the last book you finished? Which book are you currently reading? And do you know what you’ll read next?

I hope you have a lovely day,
