About Me
Hi there and welcome to bookshelfsoliloquies! I’m Lay, a queer and neurodivergent writer and lover of books and cats who just so happens to also be interested in all things death and forensic science.
At the moment, I’m living in Germany where I’m in the final stages of a master’s degree in media studies.
My reading is varied and I’m always working to expand and refine my tastes! But generally, I enjoy both YA and Adult Contemporary, Mystery, Thriller, Sci-Fi and Fantasy stories from diverse voices, especially if they feature queer characters or unique formats. I’m also a huge audiobook listener!
And then, of course, there are the “death books” as my friends call them. I read both fiction and non-fiction books about death, grief, crime and morbid history, with memoirs by death professionals holding a special place in my heart. I’m looking into doing a second degree in forensic anthropology, so maybe one day I’ll be writing one of these books!
If you would like to send me a book for review (how wonderful!), please have a look at my review policy page. There, you’ll also find ways to get in touch with me.
